Twenty years ago, smart cards were seen as the future of transit payments. Several markets embraced this technology, essentially creating “closed payment systems”. A generation later, technology is changing again – this time, towards account-based and open ticketing.

NYPAY is assembling a panel discussion which will include an operator of an urban mass transit system as well as service providers and other experts from the payments industry who are supporting this shift in the transit payment space. The panel will touch on themes including “the business case”, passenger experience, technology and regulation.
