The American Museum of Natural History is now accepting applications for the 5th annual hackathon night at the Museum; at last year’s hackathon “Hack the Deep,” participants hacked in the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life and slept beneath the blue whale! This year, the Museum is organizing “Hack the Solar System”, with challenges relating to 3D modeling and graphics processing, data visualization, mixed reality, machine learning, and computer vision coming from the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences. We’ll be hacking all night long beneath the Hayden Planetarium in the Hall of the Universe! The hackathon runs from February 8th through 10th, kicking off with a Friday night orientation, then continues Saturday afternoon to Sunday afternoon overnight at the Museum.

Apply for this year’s event and come out to show off your skills and help the Museum create experimental open source projects and advance the state of open science. Applications fill up fast (we’re only accepting 100 applicants) so don’t wait, submit your application now!
